All of the channels for sound (music, dm, combat, everything but player is way down), voice volumes are all at Max. I won't comment on which is more likely.First, I do use discord on other games (Guild Wars primarily).
Realistically though, there are only two acceptable options - DDO fixes voice chat, or everybody goes to Discord. I absolutely agree that it's frustrating to have party chat split into multiple streams. Voice chat's a nice feature, but I wouldn't exactly call it an "advanced capability" these days (this decade), especially when it's implemented so poorly. Meanwhile, voice volume's cranked all the way up, and it's still hard to hear people. Quick poll - how many people who have sound have something like this: Sometimes I wonder if people have played any other games besides DDO in the last 15 years. For me, and many others, it has enhanced rather than taken away from our community experience. Having a voice chat where I can interact with everyone who’s online vs everyone who’s in DDO is also a benefit for me.įinally, many of us invite those who join our PUG to join our Discord servers. Some of my PnP peeps don’t play DDO and vice versa. As someone who struggles with hearing loss, this is vitally important to my gaming experience.ĭiscord is more than a voice chat, though. Even after DDO added in volume sliders (still much appreciated BTW) I find that I can better control the volume with Discord.
#Awesome screenshot doesnt work with discord tv
(I am also opposed to people playing DDO while watching TV but that is a different soap box.)The overall quality of the voice chat is clearer with Discord. The last thing I want is to be in a PUG where half the party is talking to each other and the other half is on voice chat with their buddies that are playing Guild Wars.ĭiscord is fantastic for less capable games that don't feature advanced capabilities like integrated voice chat but using it on DDO further fragments the user base. This integrated voice system enables the use of voice coordination in Pick Up Groups (PUGs), using Discord (or Mumbles, etc) adds another barrier to the usability of PUGs. DDO has a built-in voice chat system that is integrated into the grouping system. I am opposed to the use of Discord in DDO (and LOTRO). Not sure if anyone else already posted on this, but figured I would share with the community in case there are any other Discord users out there. You can move this window anywhere on the screen it works for you while the overlay console is active. If you utilize Discord for voice chat, the overlay allows you to see which user is speaking. With this open, you can view Discord chats without having to fully leave the game window (however you cannot play/input commands while the console is open). You may want to reset the keybind for the overlay itself in the Discord settings. Set the dropdown to the right of "Antialiasing" to "Disabled" Make sure you are on the "Graphics" menu (should be here by default) From the Character Selection screen choose "Options" in the lower left-hand corner.

The team over at Discord have already written up a guide on how to fix this, so rather than re-invent the wheel.
